1950-2013

OXFORD — Linda J. (Lawrence) Smith, 62, passed away at home on July 15 following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Norway on Dec. 6, 1950, the eldest daughter of Frederick R. and Ruth M. (Barker) Lawrence.

She grew up in South Paris, graduating from Oxford Hills High School, class of 1969. She was also a 2000 graduate of Midcoast College, with a degree in medical transcription.

She married Russell A. Smith in North Waterford on June 28, 1980. During her lifetime, she worked at Wilner Wood Products, Bridgton Knitting Mill and numerous home health services. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed cooking, camping, music, dancing, the ocean and spending time with family and friends.

Besides her husband of Oxford and her mother of South Paris, she is survived by one daughter, Denise and her husband, John Keating, of Derry, N.H.; one son, Bernard Martin of Oxford; two sisters, Patricia Cornell and her husband, Kenneth, of Oxford, and Kathryn Lawrence and her partner, David Day, of Norway; mother-in-law Alta Smith, and her partner, Duke Meserve; two grandchildren, Brianna Bushey of Massachusetts and Megan Bushey of New Hampshire; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Frederick, in May 1987.
