LEWISTON — The passenger in a vehicle involved in a head-on collision Saturday afternoon on Route 196 has died of her injuries.
According to David St. Pierre of the Lewiston Police Department, 80-year-old Charlene McKeen of Sabattus succumbed to her injuries Sunday morning.
St. Pierre said McKeen was the passenger in a 2004 Chrysler Concorde driven by Arlene Harris, 80, of Lisbon, who was traveling east on Route 196.
Spencer Emerson, 20, of Lewiston was traveling west in his 1998 Volvo sedan at 4:29 p.m. when the collision occurred in front of the Gridiron Restaurant and Sports Pub.
The incident is still under investigation.
“It’s a very lengthy process” when there’s a death, St. Pierre said.
He said a reconstructionist gathers the reports, witnesses are questioned and vehicles and scientific data are examined before a final report is forwarded to the District Attorney.
