PARIS — See the McLaughlin Garden in a whole new light at the annual Garden Illuminated at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The rain date is July 27.

Beginning at dusk, hundreds of luminaria and tea-candle lights will be lit in the garden to create a most spectacular and enchanted evening. A stroll through the garden lit by twinkle lights and romantic candles on a fragrant summer’s eve provides a magical experience.

Wish lanterns will be launched at 9:30. People will have an opportunity to write their wishes or cares on one of the lanterns. Wish lanterns, or kongming, are traditionally used in various Asian cultures’ celebrations and festivals. Their launch symbolizes the release of worries and problems.

Tickets are $20 and include a drink, finger food and live music. A cash bar will be available. Call the McLaughlin Garden at 743-8820 for tickets or for more information. Tickets may also be purchased at the event, but advance registration is encouraged.
