WASHINGTON, D.C. — SIFMA and the SIFMA Foundation congratulated a team of students from Oak Hill High School in Sabattus on placing seventh in the national 10th annual SIFMA Foundation Stock Market Game – “Capitol Hill Challenge.” The team, as part of the Top 10 ranking teams, was recognized at an Awards Reception in Washington on June 19.
Students from Oak Hill High School produced a portfolio value of $163,424.20 and a return of more than 54 percent. Participating team members include Tyler Cyr, Brian Daniels and Adam Hebert. They were instructed by Jim Ford and represented Sen. Angus King during this year’s challenge.
This 14-week competition among teams of high school students organized by congressional district and state is a special version of the Stock Market Game where the student teams invest a hypothetical $100,000 in listed stocks, bonds and mutual funds while simultaneously learning the value of saving and investing as they work together to maximize the return of their portfolio.
