WILTON — A Jay man faces charges of assault and criminal threatening after police say he assaulted a Webb Avenue resident and the police officer who responded to the disturbance at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

William Wallace, 59, became involved in a verbal disturbance between a Webb Avenue couple, Wilton police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Wallace threatened to kill the male and assaulted him with his hands in front of Wilton Officer Ryan Richardson. When the officer attempted to arrest Wallace, he assaulted the officer, Wilcox said.

No one was injured, Wilcox said. Alcohol was involved in the incident, she added.

Cpl. Christopher Chase from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to assist the Wilton officer at the scene, she said.

Wallace was taken to Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington, where he remained Monday morning with no bail listed.
