Civil War Night was held on July 3 at the Sea Dogs game at Hadlock Field. Civil War Historian Charles Plummer of Auburn was invited to throw the first pitch as Union Brigadier General Joshua L. Chamberlain. Chamberlain was the hero of Little Round Top at Gettysburg. Above, Gen. Chamberlain acknowledges the crowd as he prepares to pitch to the catcher. The general reported it was a perfect knee-high strike. Plummer is known for his living history portrayals of Civil War generals in military uniforms and of President Abraham Lincoln in presentations in Lewiston-Auburn and surrounding towns.
