LISBON — The Lisbon Public Library will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, for the new Lisbon Career Development Center located downstairs, adjacent to the children’s room.

The town of Lisbon is a recipient of a 2012 Maine Community Development Block Grant Public Service Grant in the amount of $20,000 to establish a jobs and career services program. The program is intended to address increasing demand by the library’s patrons for technical assistance relating to online job searches, online job application submission, and resume/cover letter development.

With the assistance of the grant, Lisbon was able to purchase the necessary computers for the center as well as hire Kristine Mattei as consultant to facilitate the career program. Mattei has more than 15 years of experience in training, workforce development and multi-tiered recruiting on a national scale.

The Lisbon Career Development Center will be open on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Aug. 6.
