1929 – 2013

LEWISTON — Marjorie G. Benway, 84, of 102 Campus Ave., died Wednesday, July 31, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

She was born in Poland on March 26, 1929, the daughter of the late James and Gladys (Stevenson) Edwards.

She was a graduate of E.L.H.S. Class of 1947, and went on to St. Mary’s Nursing School to become a registered nurse for many years, retiring in 1993 from Montello Manor. She had worked in area restaurants, including Edward’s Restaurant in Lewiston. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and soap operas.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Leavitt and her husband, Marc, of Turner; two sons, Donald Benway of Lewiston and Philip Benway of Buckeye, Ariz; three grandchildren, William Bean, Seth Leavitt and Danielle Benway; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Caroline Benway, in 1984; one brother, James Edwards Jr.; and two sisters, Priscilla McCleary and Nancy Edwards.
