The Bluegrass Picnic Lawn Party, set for 6 to 9 p.m.,  Friday, Aug. 16,  will provide a venue for the community to bring their picnics and lawn chairs and eat under the stars while listening to the toe-tapping bluegrass sounds of The Absentees and Tricky Britches.

The Absentees are an all-female American roots trio from Farmington who bring multiple instruments and voices together to create their unique harmony-centered, Americana sound. The trio plays a mix of traditional and contemporary folk songs and features Abigail Flanagan on fiddle/banjo, Ellie Buckland on fiddle/guitar and Lena Kendall on guitar.

Tricky Britches, a Portland-based band, is rooted in old-time country with a bluegrass kick and the bounce of a street-corner jug band. The group features Jed Bresette on guitar/bass/vocals, Seth Doyle on mandolin/guitar/harmonica/vocals, Tyler Lienhardt on fiddle/washboard/vocals and Ryan Wilkinson on tenor banjo/guitar/bass/vocals.

Tickets at the door are $6 per person with a family rate of four-or-more for $20. There will be a cash bar and dessert and water will be provided.

The Farm-to-Table Lawn Party, Friday, 6 to 9:30 p.m., Aug. 23,  will focus on promoting in-season food grown locally. A variety of tapas/small plates prepared using local ingredients will be available along with a cash bar. Music will be provided by Walking with Horses, which features musicians Seth Wegner, Lena Kendall and Zak Kendall.

Advanced tickets will be on sale for $25 at Devaney, Doak and Garrett Booksellers and Upfront and Pleasant Gourmet in Farmington. A limited number of tickets will be on sale at the door. A portion of the proceeds will be given to the Care and Share Food Closet in Farmington.
