1932 – 2013
AUBURN — A. Ferne Beal Cyr, 81, of Lewiston, died peacefully in her sleep at the Hospice House in Auburn, Monday August 5, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ferne was born in Augusta on May 13, 1932, to Cedric E. Beal and Ella Rae Richardson Beal. She grew up in the Bath and Woolwich area and graduated from Morse High School in 1950. On June 25, 1955, she married Henry G. Cyr, who died on Dec. 5, 1985.
She retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance after 18 years of service.
Ferne enjoyed doing many arts and crafts and was an avid reader.
Ferne will be sadly missed by her family: children, Deborah J. Hilliard and husband, Danny, of Stuart, Fla., Steve R. Cyr of Greene, and Robert H. Cyr and wife, Leigh, of Minot; four granddaughters, Jessica Belanger and husband, Marc, of Lewiston, Christina Helms and husband, Chad, of Minot, and Lindsey and Courtney Cyr of Minot; four great-grandchildren, Alexis and Chloe Helms and Aiden and Maxwell Belanger. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Kane of Ellsworth; brothers, Arlington Beal of Las Vegas, Nev., and James Widdecombe of Portland; sister-in-law, Diane Bechard and husband, Julian, of Waterville; brother-in-law, Ralph Cyr and wife, Annette, of Pittsford, N.Y.; a great-aunt, Delores Conway of Augusta; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ferne was predeceased by her parents, Cedric E. Beal and Ella Rae Richardson Beal; husband, Henry G. Cyr; and sister, Sandra McGrath.
