Reunion for Keen descendants
SUMNER — Meet and greet the descendants of John and Martha Keen. All Keenes are invited to the 88th annual reunion at A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.
Potluck lunch is at noon. The group will move to the pond at 3 p.m.
Bring your whole family, a dish to share, swimsuits, towels and lawn chairs for the pond. There will be hand-crank ice cream, outside activities for kids, a barn swing, and sheep, horse and chickens

Lunches on the Lawn, bake sale
WINTHROP — Winthrop Congregational Church UCC will hold the 26th annual Bake Sale and Lunches on the Lawn on Saturday, Aug. 17.
Food sale starts at 9 a.m., luncheon at 11 a.m. featuring 100 percent lobster rolls, chicken salad rolls, pie and blueberry cake.
There will also be Rada cutlery, photos, cards and an art show.
The event will be inside if it rains.
All proceeds benefit missions of the church.
Course on child abuse response
AUBURN — In collaboration with Advocates for Children, Central Maine Community College will offer a “Responding to Child Abuse” course this fall. This 36-hour comprehensive course will be held on the CMCC campusTuesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The class will start Sept. 17 and end Dec. 10.
The cost is $250 and includes all materials. Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive 4.5 continuing education units.
This course will offer participants an opportunity to learn from a wide range of professionals (DHS, law enforcement, courts, medical community, foster care programs) on how they work to combat the cycle of abuse in Androscoggin County.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Aug. 5 were as follows: first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Richard Balian and Bailey Geeslin; third/fourth tie, Nancy Farmer and Nancy Lindgren with Patricia and Mike Quinn; first in B, Richard Balian and Bailey Geeslin; second/third tie, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe with Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird.
Winners on Tuesday were: first, Mike True and Rick Verrill; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; third, Connie and Ron Reynolds.

Burnt Meadow DAR meets Aug. 17
LISBON FALLS — Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at the home of Mrs. Bickford at 1:30 p.m Saturday, Aug. 17. Light refreshments will follow the meeting.
The Regent will report on the the Maine State Regent, Sandra Swallow’s Summer Meeting of her Administration of the Maine Society of Daughters of the American Revolution held at the Viles Arboretum on Aug. 3. Highlights of the goals of the new administrations, both national and state, will be given. There will be a brief talk on Thomas Jefferson’s scandalous 4 per cent.

‘Meet the Community Day’
HEBRON — Hebron Community Baptist Church will have a “Meet the Community Day” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.

Free yoga for caregivers
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will offer a free yoga workshop for cancer caregivers. Relaxation Yoga for Caregivers will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell St.
Nancy Kelley, yoga instructor and owner of Harmony Yoga, will offer stress reducing techniques through relaxation, yoga poses and soothing music. There will be guided meditation to aid in bringing the mind and body into harmony, while providing a safe place to simply be yourself, leaving worries outside.
