AUBURN — An informational public meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave., about environmental cause, air pollution, contaminants, health issues as a result of, as well as effects on gardening, farming and outdoor animals.

FAIRFIELD — Registration for the fall 2013 semester at Kennebec Valley Community College is underway for all students. The fall semester begins on Aug. 26 and ends Dec. 14.

Students are reminded that some classes fill up quickly, and are encouraged to register as early as possible. Many openings in popular programs and classes remain.

Nashville recording artists in concert

AUGUSTA — Maine Country Music Hall of Fame will present in concert Nashville Recording Artists Perley Curtis and Erin Hay at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the American Legion Post No. 205, 396 Eastern Ave., Route 17.

Curtis, a member of Maine Country Music Hall of Fame, was inducted in 2012, and was steel guitarist for Loretta Lynn for seven years. Hay has been dubbed as “New Queen of the Honky Tonk Angels” due to a wide following in the European/overseas market.

Also appearing will be other Maine Country Hall of Fame members, Fred “Tommy” Thompson, Al Doane, Bonnie Rairdon, Elton Record, Slim Andrews, Bing Crosby and Bob Elston. Proceeds will benefit Maine Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum which is in the lower level of the Silver Spur Dance Hall in Mechanic Falls.
