BIDDEFORD (AP) — Police say the driver of a pickup truck that struck three members of a family out riding their bicycles, one of whom eventually died, has been charged with manslaughter and drunken driving.

Police have arrested 56-year-old David Labonte of Kennebunkport. The Portland Press Herald reports he’s charged in connection with the death of 52-year-old Jamerico Elliott and injuries to Elliot’s 17-month-old son.

The child is in critical condition.

Prosecutors say LaBonte had a blood alcohol content of nearly twice the legal limit for driving.

Labonte could not be reached, but previously said he had an asthma-induced coughing fit and passed out. He was to be held on $100,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
