YARMOUTH (AP) — A North Yarmouth man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for firing a gun outside a rival’s home last fall.
Forty-eight-year-old Michael Lovering pleaded guilty this week to criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. As part of the plea deal, charges of reckless conduct and terrorizing were thrown out.
Police say Lovering and another man fired at least 12 rounds in an exchange of gunfire on Sept. 30.
Police say the shooting was sparked by a dispute between Lovering and the home’s resident, who knew each other. No one was hurt. The Portland Press Herald reports that the other man was not charged.
