Historical society to hear talk on RR
PARIS — The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the museum, 77 High St.
After a brief business meeting, John Davis will speak on the railroad museum train that traveled from Canada to Portland, stopping at Island Pond, Vt., and passing through this area to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the railroad in 1953.
This program was previously announced and was held over to the August meeting. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served after.
Clothing center open Saturday
HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. The center is opposite the church.
VFW to hold baked bean supper
PARIS — A baked bean supper with all the fixings will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the VFW Post 9787 Hall, 58 East Main St.
Take-out available for ham supper
BRYANT POND — A baked ham supper will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Masonic Building, Main Street, Route 26.
The meal will include mashed potato with gravy, peas, applesauce, cole slaw, dinner rolls, homemade pies, bread pudding, coffee, tea, fruit punch and peach tea.
Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Take-out is available. For reservations for eight or more, call 312-9197.
