John Hurst, Jr., aged 7 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hurst of Washington street, Auburn, was badly bruised and cut Thursday morning when he plunged his cart into the wheels of a team driven by Alfonso Nadeau of Lewiston. The team was coming down Washington Street hill toward Auburn when the boy, coasting in his cart shot into the street. Nadeau tried to get his team out of the way but the cart struck the rear right wheel of the wagon, overturning the boy and his cart. Mr. Nadeau took the boy in his team to a drug store where the cuts were dressed.

The possibility of the revival of plans for a modern hotel or motel in Auburn was seen yesterday with the filing of an option at the Androscoggin County Registry of Deeds. The land on which Allied Investment Co. of Memphis, Tenn., has taken an option is located near the Auburn interchange of the Maine Turnpike and adjoins the land of the late George W. Lane Jr. and the Magloire J. Levesque property. The option was given by the Congress Square Parking Corp. of Portland, the concern interested in the Eastland Motor Hotel at Portland. The Tennessee firm has 60 days in which to exercise the option on the land and buildings with an established purchase price of $60,000.

EDITORIAL — Lewiston’s Kennedy Park is bustling again with tents, the sound of music, the smell of crepes and sausage and with residents looking for a revival of a Franco-American celebration. At opening ceremonies of Le Festival de Lewiston at Auburn, a statement from Gov. John R. McKernan Jr. said the festival “… is one more sign of the renaissance of L-A.” The Franco-American Festival of past years died of red ink and a honky-tonk carnival atmosphere. Security was not good. The organizers of the revived celebration have improved on security and have tried to put an emphasis on Franco-American events. Lewiston-Auburn needs a celebration of the Franco-American culture whether it’s a festival in the park of in some other form. We wish the organizers every success in this revival and hope it will continue and expand into the future.
