IRMO, S.C. — Roland M. Lavigne, 85, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, in Irmo, S.C.
He was born in Lisbon on June 4, 1928, a son of the late Israel and Onelda Bretton Lavigne. He was the husband of Martha Hucks Lavigne. Roland was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church in Chapin, S.C., and a former member of Village Presbyterian Church in Tampa, Fla., where he was an elder and a deacon.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he was an air traffic controller. He loved his beautiful state of Maine and was a true Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed South Carolina gamecock sports.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Raymond Lavigne and his wife, Carin; daughter, Cindy Lavigne Gibson; stepson, Rus Horton and wife, Karen; stepdaughters, Paige Horton and fiance, Timothy Terrell, and Nicole Maffett and husband, Randall; sister, Connie Lavigne Doboga; grandchildren, Caroline Lavigne, Lindsay (Jon) Holifield, R.J. (Lauren) Lavigne, Kali Gibson, Jessica Maffett, McKenzie Maffett, Katie Horton, Donald Nunn and Kasey Nunn; and great-grandson, Palmer Holifield. He is also survived by a niece, Marcia (Bob) Bedell Harvey; great-niece, Stephanie Bedell Baker; great-nephew, Matthew Bedell; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
