PARIS — The Board of Selectmen on Monday authorized a new contract for General Assistance administration with the town of Norway.

The two towns will share GA administrator Shannon Moxcey, who has worked in that capacity for Paris and Norway as an employee of Community Concepts since last summer.

Last week, the Norway Board of Selectmen agreed to hire Moxcey and drop its contract with Community Concepts.

At Monday’s meeting, Town Manager Amy Bernard told the board Moxcey had approached her with concerns about staying on with Community Concepts, prompting Bernard and Norway Town Manager David Holt to find a way to keep her position in the towns.

With the new contract, Moxcey will be an employee of Norway and Paris, after she has fulfilled her notice to Community Concepts. She is expected to split her 40-hour week evenly between the two towns.

Under the old contract, Moxcey was paid $28 an hour to provide GA administration. Bernard said she did not believe the amount of compensation would change, but under the new arrangement the town would actually have access to Moxcey’s services for an additional four hours per week.

Because of Moxcey’s work, Paris was able to reduce its GA budget by $20,000 from fiscal year 2011-2012, Bernard said.

Selectmen unanimously voted to authorize Bernard to sign the contract.
