1924 – 2013
AUGUSTA — Elizabeth “Betty” M. Lord entered Heaven as an angel on Sunday, Aug. 11. As was her great anticipation, she was reunited with friends and loved ones.
She was born in Burlington, Vt., on Jan. 2, 1924. At an early age, she married the love of her life, Roland M. Lord and bore two sons, Dale R. and Roy C.
As an itinerant pastor’s wife, all during their marriage she served with Roland in several churches throughout Maine. Her greatest joys in life were being a wife, a mother and a grandmother.
Betty is survived by her husband, the Rev. Roland Lord, who resides at the “Patriots’ Place,” Togus; son, Roy Lord and daughter-in-law, Kelly Lord, of Belgrade; granddaughters, Donna Mionis of Levant and Lisa Sturtevant of Hancock; grandson, Daniel Lord of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Althea Hathaway of South Paris and a sister-in-law, Hope Edwards, of Kenneth City, Fla.
She was predeceased by her mother, Marion McAllister Day; her son, Dale; and her brother, Bud Lowe.
As her son, I would especially like to thank all those who stood by my parents and myself throughout the past days and weeks of my mother’s illness, as well as the staff at the Augusta Veterans’ Home for their outstanding and loving care during the two years she made that wonderful place her home.
Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
