RUMFORD — The Greater Rumford Community Center recently lost critical funding to operate and the move is on to fund its operations. Two fundraising events will be held this month.
A GRCC rummage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Rumford Center Meeting House. All those wanting to make donations may drop items, other than appliances, to the GRCC until Thursday, Aug. 22.
A bake sale will also be held at that time and “Save the GRCC” T-shirts will be available for $10. Thoses wanting to donate bake goods are asked to drop them off by 7:30 a.m. the morning of the sale.
A big benefit will take place at the Eagles Post on Friday, Aug. 30. A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. and bands will play. including Cold Blue Steel and Sharon Buck Dixen Roads.
Tickets are available at Davis Florist or Trendsetters. Prices are $7 for dinner only, $10 dance only, or $15 for both. Big ticket items and smaller items will be auctioned and there will be a 50/50. The information is on the GRCC Facebook page.
