NORWAY –  The friends and members of the Second Congregational Church, UCC, Main Street, are sorting, cleaning and pricing items for their 14th annual Tent-N-Treasures Yard Sale that will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.

With several other yard sales in the area scheduled for that Saturday, Bruce Davison, yard sale coordinator, said, “We look forward to a very large crowd. If you haven’t been before, don’t miss it. It is a huge event. We have it all —  from books to baby stuff, sinks to sofas and tables to trinkets. All items are very reasonably priced, clean and in working order.”

Davison said, “It’s the biggest yard sale in the Oxford Hills and this year will be our biggest sale to date. Again this year, local artist, Don Gouin is returning with his birch and alder furniture, frames and Western Maine photographs. We will also have fresh produce, baked beans, whoppie pies and baked goods.”

The rain or shine sale, now under nine tents, will fill the church parking lot. Final set-up will begin early Friday morning, Aug. 23, and will last late into Friday night. Youth group members and advisers spend the night under the tents with the treasures.

There will be no “early birds” or “previews” allowed before the sale, which will run from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be for sale, and hot dogs and soda will be available later in the morning.

Those interested in donating items should leave them in the parsonage barn or contact the church office at 743-2290. This year the revenue will again be used to support the missions of the Second Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.
