DEAR SUN SPOTS: On July 30 you ran my letter asking about reverse mortgages. At the end of my letter I offered a free 32-inch television (not a flat screen).

A woman named Linda called and said she would really like to have it. She asked me if I could deliver, and I said no, because I’m 82 and the TV being bulky I didn’t trust myself going down a flight of stairs.

I told her that if she could find someone to come over and pick it up, that she could have it. But I haven’t heard from her. I never got her phone number or address, so I can’t call her back.

Would you say something in your column that would lead Linda into calling me back? Thank you. — No Name, Lewiston, 782-9842

ANSWER: Sun Spots thinks you can write Linda off. She surely would have called you back by now if she was going to come and get the TV. But perhaps your letter will turn up someone else who wants the TV and will be able to come pick it up.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where would one find those decorative small flags that hang on the front of peoples’ houses on a small pole with pictures of scenes, seasons, holidays, etc.? — No Name, Lisbon

ANSWER: Back in 2011 a reader recommended the Sign Store and Flag Center, 325 Center St., Auburn, 784-4515, www.signstor.com/flag.htm. Sun Spots went to their website, and it looks like they have what you are looking for. Readers, do you know of any other local sources?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I recently enjoyed the third annual Redneck Blank, which was held Aug. 1-4 in Hebron. A friend paid my way.

While there I lost my Net 10 LG phone. If anyone has found it, I would love to have it back, as it had pictures on the camera that cannot be replaced, plus telephone numbers I need.

It’s not an expensive phone; it’s the sentimental information  on it. Please call 933-4543 or 713-9268 or 713-9270 or 933-3339. Thank you. It would be great to have it returned. — A true redneck

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Just a note to say thanks. You can’t believe the phone calls and emails in reply to my Aug. 5 offer of fabric and craft materials. Probably 20 so far and still coming in. Your service is great, and it’s so good to have a place to offer items and get information. — Bev Stevens, bstevens@megalink.net

ANSWER: Sun Spots is glad it worked out. Since your letter appeared, more groups have written looking for supplies.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Our residents have a wonderful knitting group that meets weekly in our facility, Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris. We are always looking for supplies and are willing to pick up.

Some items needed are Brothers’ needles, cloth, thread, stuffing for pillows, sewing and craft items. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

Sun Spots has been a huge resource to our facility and residents. Thank you again! — Marianne Harlow, LCSW, director of social services, 207-743-7086, ext. 5305, galloma@wmhcc.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping that you and your readers can help me. I make hats for needy children to be handed out with Christmas boxes at our local church and give hats to the schools for those who need them.

I am in desperate need for yarn this year. I was hoping that if any of your readers had any they weren’t using they may want to donate it to a good cause. Any help would be great.

Please call and I will make arrangements to get the yarn. Thank you to all! — BrenDay Choiniere, choiniereking@yahoo.com, 207-440-7882
