BETHEL – Bethel Area CROP (Communities Respond to Overcome Poverty) committee is sponsoring a community potluck supper at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the West Parish Congregational Church. The theme is “Feeding the Hungry – both locally and globally.”
The Local Food Connections will share information on local gardening efforts. Brian Lenberg will talk about the 4-H garden. Information about Harvest for Hunger in Rumford will be shared.
Melody Bonema will talk about the emergency food Packs, which provide three days of food for a family of four, and David Bean will discuss the Bethel Food Pantry.
The Bethel Alliance will talk about the community garden and the monthly free community supper the fourth Wednesday of every month.
This is a kick-off for the CROP Walk, which supports the work of Church World Service, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6, in Bethel. 75% of the money raised on the walk supports the work of Church World Service; 25% stays locally and fights hunger in the Bethel area, going to the Bethel Food Pantry.
Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share and canned goods or paper goods as a donation to the Bethel Food Pantry.
