Jeans sale at Thrifty Gift Shop
PARIS —   A huge jeans sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the Thrifty Gift Shop, 659 Park St. There will be more than 100 jeans items with sizes ranging from infants to adults. 

There will be school clothes both inside and outside the shop, which is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Thursday and Friday. For more information, call Peggy at 357-7072.

Church to conduct annual yard sale

NORWAY —  Christ Episcopal Church, 35 Paris St., will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. There will be a Christmas Room and a Tiffany Room as well as baked goods and a range of items for sale. Beginning at 1 p.m. all items that can fit in a “bargain bag” will be $1.

‘Whatever and Bake Sale’ at Sumner church

SUMNER —  The West Sumner Universalist Church will hold a “Whatever and Bake Sale” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, to help defray costs of new rugs in the newly painted sanctuary. Lunch will be served at noon with spareribs, beans, hot dogs and salads.

Oklahoma City bombing is program topic

HEBRON —  Dr. Fred Jordan will speak to the Hebron Historical Society on “The Investigation of the Oklahoma City Bombing of 1999” on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

The public is invited to attend the event following a membership meeting at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.

Civil War veterans’ daughters to meet

STONEHAM —  Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, will meet Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Community Room.

At the last meeting on July 24, President Jones reported on the recent department convention held on June 29 in Waterville.

Dayle Burnell won the mystery prize. It was noted that member Deanna Merchant has moved to Minot, N.D., where she will attend college.
