DURHAM — Firefighters, in sweltering temperatures Thursday, quickly knocked down a mobile home fire at 25 Newell Brook Road.
Fire Chief Bill St. Michel said a neighbor spotted smoke coming from a bedroom window. The occupants were not at home and the fire was confined to a bedroom and half bath, he said.
St. Michel estimated smoke and fire damage to the home and contents of the 14-by-66-foot rental home owned by Scott and Heather Tibbetts at between $30,000 and $50,000.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, but is not considered suspicious, St. Michel said. The occupants were not identified.
One engine from the Lisbon Falls Fire Station filled in at the Durham Fire Station.
