SABATTUS — The tax bill on a $150,000 home in town went up $240 on Thursday night.
Selectmen voted to set the new tax rate at $16.35, up $1.60 over the current year. Much of the increase was attributed to the anticipated 2013-14 RSU 4 school budget.
Town Manager Andrew Gilmore said 54 cents came from the municipal side of the budget; about 50 cents of that will cover a new directive adopted at town meeting this spring to set aside excise taxes for future road repairs.
The new tax bills go out next week with the first installment due Oct. 3.
The vote to adopt the proposed school budget is Tuesday, Aug. 27.
