SOUTH PARIS —Charles Truman Williams, 93, of Norway, died on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Maine Veterans Home.
He was born on July 26, 1920, in Pepperell, Mass., to Mable (Cook) and J. Orin Williams Jr. He attended Pepperell schools and was a graduate of Lowell Trade School. Truman married Dorothy E. Brewer of Nashua, N.H. on Dec. 26, 1939. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, later serving in the Occupations Forces with the first Calvary in Japan. He worked for Bemis Brothers Bag Co. and for many years was employed as vice president of sales for Chandler Machine Co. of Ayer, Mass.
Truman loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His special joy was his great-grandchildren. He was an excellent carpenter and built and renovated a number of houses.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith Haynes of Waterford; a son, Barry and wife, Linda Williams, of Leominster, Mass.; grandchildren Kerry and wife, Jane Munn, of Norway, Dawn and husband, Joel Latendresse, of Waterford; Jeffrey and wife, Heidi Williams, of Westminster, Mass., and Kimberly Rivera of Leominster, Mass.; great-grandchildren Erik and wife, Jackie Munn, of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; Elliott Munn of New Haven, Conn., Charles Munn of Lewiston, Owen, Connor and Ethan Williams of Westminster, Mass. and Kimberly and Asia Rivera of Leominster, Mass.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years in 2001, and his sister, Virginia Manning, of Pepperell and Mission, Texas.
