The tabloid-style, non-news story on the front page of the Sun Journal Aug. 20, “Governor reportedly tells backers Obama ‘hates white people,'” is an insult to those people who read a newspaper for news, not hearsay.

Gov. LePage has accomplished what Democratic and independent governors had no concern for — paying the hospitals and doctors who care for the indigent, disabled and elderly.

Now the Bangor Daily News, the Sun Journal and the Portland Press Herald want to vilify a governor who is a true rags-to-riches story that, if you check your history, you would find that many great American men and women are also rags-to-riches stories.

Politicians from both parties speak words that mean nothing.

The current governor ran for office with a promise to pay what was owed, and actually did it.

Honesty — too bad the owners of this tabloid have no room in their vocabulary for such an easy word.
