DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where would Sun Journal readers be without your column? It is a must read for so many. Thank you for educating, enlightening and entertaining us.

I’m writing in hopes that some of your readers might have a mannequin.

On Oct. 6, the YWCA is holding a “Glamour & Glitz of Days Gone By” fashion show at the Ramada Inn. Charlene LeClair will conduct the fashion show, and she could use two or three mannequins.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You’re the best! I so appreciate being able to turn to you for information.

I’m aware that there’s at least one readers theater in this area, and I would like to explore the possibility of participating.

Can you provide me with a contact phone number? — No Name, Lewiston

ANSWER: In April and July the Sun Journal featured photos of the Androscoggin Readers Theater, but there was no contact information in either of the captions. Readers, can you help?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I saw the question about Locks of Love in Sun Spots (Aug. 12) and thought I would share an event that my daughter is holding called Isabelle’s Challenge.

No mother is ever ready for her 6-year-old daughter to tell her that she wants to grow her hair out, have it cut to make wigs for kids with various diseases and challenge her friends and classmates at the same time.

Isabelle experienced the loss of her Aunt Alison Dumont when she was young and not a day goes by that she does not think of her, as she sleeps with her Dora blanket on a nightly, a birthday gift given to her by Ali.

In memory of Alison Dumont and in honor of many children battling various diseases, we are asking for your support! Together we can make a difference one cut at a time!

The event will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Hair by Gregory’s, 392 Center St., Auburn, 786-0112.

The requirements are:

* Hair that is at least 10 inches in length.

* Hair can be colored or highlighted.

* Layered hair is acceptable, as long as the longest layer is at least 10 inches.

* Hair must be clean and dry at time of the cut.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for the invaluable service you provide to all of us in the Sun Journal area. Thank you also to all the caring people who answered the appeal by the Waterford Grange 479 for craft materials. The response was truly heartwarming.

Our Grange members have been busy knitting, crocheting and sewing and were able to have a concession stand at the Waterford Fair. Our crafts and home-baked goods will be at the Waterford Farmers Market on the Green in Waterford Village on Route 37, which meets on Mondays from 3 to 6 p.m. during August.

In addition, we will have a combined craft, baked goods and yard sale on three Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 30 and 31, plus the Sept. 6 and 7 at our Grange Hall located next to the North Waterford Post Office on Route 35 in North Waterford. Stop by and check us out.

More items will be added each week. Contributions for our sale will be gratefully accepted. Proceeds will go toward the installation of an electric pump to replace our hand pump, plus other needed repairs. Thank you so much. — Mary DeLorenzo, 583-4490, and Sharon McAllister 928-2878
