WEST PARIS — A Bridgton man died Wednesday morning as a result of injuries he suffered when his pickup collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 26, a Maine State Police trooper has confirmed.
Jean P. Bolduc, 83, was traveling south when his 1991 Ford Ranger veered over the center line for an unknown reason and went right into the path of a northbound Roadway Nationwide tractor-trailer driven by Bradley A. Durgin of Lewiston, Trooper Paul Casey said in a news release.
Casey said that Durgin, 56, saw Bolduc’s pickup swerve toward him and tried to avoid a collision by driving into the breakdown lane and then applying his brakes. But before he could, Bolduc struck the rearmost driver’s side tire of the trailer Durgin was hauling.
Bolduc was taken by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, where he was pronounced dead at about 11:45 a.m., the trooper said. The state medical examiner’s office and the Oxford County district attorney’s office were notified of the fatality, in accordance with standard operating procedure.
Members of the Maine State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit and deputies from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
Bolduc’s pickup was demolished in the crash, Casey said. Damage to the tractor-trailer Durgin was driving was minimal, estimated at $500.
