1930 – 2013

LEWISTON — Edward T. Williams, 82, of Lewiston, died on Monday, Aug. 26, at Central Maine Medical Center after an illness. He was the husband of Sarah A. (Senz) Williams.

He was born in Bath on Dec. 30, 1930, a son of the late Frederick T. and Rena F. (White) Williams Sr. Edward grew up in Bath, attending local area schools before joining the Navy at 17 in 1948, serving a four-year tour.

He married Sarah on March 27, 1971, and celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this past year.

Ed spent more than 30 years at Eastland Shoes in Freeport, before moving over to L.L. Bean, in which he spent the next 10 years, before retiring in the early 1990s. He was also a clam digger throughout his life.

He enjoyed fishing, especially on the local pond in Durham, as well as hunting, including rifle, muzzle loading and bow hunting. He and his wife also enjoyed working at the Riverside Flea Market in Lisbon.

Besides his wife, Sarah, he is survived by his eight children, James Williams and his wife, Maria, of Lewiston, Fred Williams of Lewiston, Susan Wallace of Lisbon, Frances Jarmuzek and her husband, Dan, of Lisbon, Tammy Washburn and her husband, Randall, of Durham, David Williams of Gardner, John Williams of Lewiston and Carl Williams and his wife, Vilma, of Florida. He also leaves 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Louise Joslyn of Manchester.

He was also the brother of the late Frederick Williams Jr., and a great-grandfather of the late Sarah Ann Marie Peterson.
