DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have just learned my beautiful granddaughter may be getting married in 2015. I am a quilter and am hoping to make her a double wedding ring quilt. I know I have a little over a year to complete my intended project, but any quilter will tell you this is quite a job.

My question for Sun Spots or her readers: Does anyone know where I might locate a shop that would have the Marti Mitchell double wedding ring templates or do any of your readers have a set that they may be interested in selling?

I am in New York at this time completing my chemo and will follow it up with radiation and hope to return to our home in Maine in October. This quilt project will keep me busy. Thank you, Sun Spots. — Patsy Boyce, patsyjane@optimum.net, 631-281-8934

ANSWER: It must be getting close to fall — sewing, craft and cooking questions abound!

Sun Spots likes the sound of your project. She is sure your granddaughter will be thrilled.

The best of luck with your medical treatments.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are moving, and I have a large assortment of latch hook canvas and the cut yarn, a small loom and the rug yarn, plastic fruit for wreaths and other assorted craft items. I would like to offer it to a deserving group. Pickup only. — Shirley, Rangeley, 864-3392, swagene@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Good morning. I now have a nice sewing machine available for those programs that you listed several days ago whose contact information I didn’t retain. Would you please list just one — no need to list them all — and I’ll see that they get it. Thank you. — silverml34@aol.com, Auburn

ANSWER: One request specifically for sewing machines was from Edward Little High School, Ellen Hodgkin, ehodgkin@auburnschl.edu, 207-333-6652.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you please add me to the list of nonprofits that could use fabric, yarn, notions, patterns of all types of crafts, etc.?

I am the junior leader of a Junior Grange with children ages 5 to 13 1/2 who work on all types of crafts. I am also the director of the Maine State Grange Committee of Women’s Activities, and we do many types of crafts that often go to the Linus Project, the homeless, Premie Babies, etc. Plus, I am the Maine coordinator for the ConKerr Cancer Children’s Project, so you see any and many donations are greatly appreciated.

As always, I enjoy your column and all the help it gives. — Karen L. Flagg, Greene, 207-946-2016, flagg_karen@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Boys & Girls Club is starting a quilting program this fall and is looking for any quilting supplies that folks would like to donate. We are in need of things like material (scraps will work, too), clothing that could be cut into pieces for quilts, batting, thread, etc., pretty much anything having to do with quilting.

We have a volunteer and staff member who will be teaching kids how to make pillow covers (like the throw pillows you would put on your couch), so we could also take some old pillows you don’t want.

People interested in donating materials could drop them off at the Boys & Girls Club, 43 Second St., Auburn, or call 207-782-2446 or 207-333-8881. Thanks. — Andie Hannon, club unit director

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have closed my shop, Chez Dorea, on Lisbon Street but will be working from 1 Brule St. in Lewiston. My telephone number is the same, 330-0755. Thank you. — Dorea Fortier, seamstress

ANSWER: While updating her Rolodex with this entry, Sun Spots noted that she’s been giving out a slightly different phone number prefix: 333 instead of 330. Sun Spots assumes that Dorea knows her own phone number and apologizes for publishing the wrong one.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your column every day and love it. Is there someone in the Wilton area who has made the red boa scarf? Could you call me? I have a question to ask about the pattern. — No Name, Dryden,  860-6313
