FARMINGTON — Henderson Memorial Baptist Church and Summit Faith Community, which share the building at 110 Academy St., have decided to renew their agreement to share space and collaborate in ministry. Pastors Susan Crane and Ryan Goding announce new times of worship for each congregation, beginning Sunday, Sept. 1.

Henderson Memorial Baptist will hold services in the sanctuary at 9:30, followed by Fellowship at 10:30, on the lower level, and a variety of small group studies at 11.

Summit Faith Community will worship from 10:30 to noon each Sunday. Sunday school classes for children are offered upstairs after a short time of worship shared by all ages.

On the first Sunday of the month, each church offers Communion, and both churches share together in a potluck lunch at noon. All are welcome.

The experiment to share space has been a success this past year. Christmas Eve and Easter services were held together, with each church contributing music and message. Volunteers work together on building maintenance projects.

In the year to come, Summit Faith Community and Henderson Memorial Baptist Church plan to work together on a missional project in the community. Both churches are represented in the planning phase of creating the Western Maine Homeless Outreach family shelter to be housed at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church on the Wilton Road.

“It takes all the churches working together to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community today,” said Rev. Susan Crane, “and we are grateful for the partnership we share with Summit Faith going forward.”
