An Auburn resident, Ranucci has been painting for more than 26 years, and his representational style is inspired by Rembrandt’s use of light and shadow.

“Often, I see everyday objects made beautiful just in the way light washes over them,” Ranucci explained. “Interpreting and explaining this beauty in my paintings is the source of endless variety, and subject matter.”

The perfect example of everyday objects made beautiful is the series of three still life paintings of workbench tools in this exhibit. The new work also includes plein air paintings of Georegetown Harbor, Rockland Harbor, Streaked Mountain and Katahdin at sundown and luscious florals that have so much texture you feel that you can pick the flowers.
