BRUNSWICK — A 92-year-old woman was severely burned in a fire at her home on Beech Drive on Wednesday evening, police Lt. Todd Ridlon said in a news release.
The woman was listed in very serious condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland, and officials had not yet notified her next of kin late Wednesday, the statement said.
She lived alone, Ridlon said.
The fire was reported at about 6 p.m. when neighbors were alerted to the fire by a Life Alert medical alarm system. Some neighbors got the woman out of the house and one sustained minor burns to his hand while attempting to extinguish the flames. He was treated at the scene by paramedics, the statement said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation by Brunswick police detectives and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
