1911 – 2013

RUMFORD — Carlton M. “Ki” Finethy, 101, closed his eyes to this world to join his Lord and Savior forever on Sunday, Sept. 1.

Ki, as he was known by his family and friends, was born to the late Amelia Mae Shaw and Richard Walker Finethy on Oct. 1, 1911, in Mexico. He was one of six children, all of whom have preceded him in death.

Ki worked for the Oxford Paper Mill in Rumford for 45 years, until retiring in 1973. In 2011, he was honored by the Masons Blazing Star Lodge No. 30 for being the oldest Mason in Rumford. He had been a Mason for more than 66 years.

Carlton lived a full and happy life in which family was most important, including his longtime Chihuahua companion, ChiChi. He loved to work in the yard, read, do word puzzles and go for rides.

He is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Kathleen Finethy; son, Milton Finethy and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Amelia Earle and husband, George; two granddaughters, Kristine Cool and husband, Kevin, and Sheryl Parker and husband, Keith; and four great-grandchildren.
