NEW GLOUCESTER — Marreta B. Strong, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 2, at home in New Gloucester, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Donald E. Strong, who passed away in 1997.
She was born in Salem, W.Va., on Jan. 6, 1924, to Homer and Vada Hutson. The family moved to York, Pa., in 1930. She was educated in the Central York School District. She worked as a seamstress and floor manager for Bernstein Manufacturing in Mount Wolf, Pa., until she retired in 1965.
She loved crocheting, WWF wrestling, making candy, Sprint Car Racing and spending time with family.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Gagnon and her husband, Henry, of New Gloucester; four grandchildren, James Bear and wife, Shawna, Douglas Bear and wife, Kristina, Penny Leonard and William Gagnon; eight great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kayla, Trevor, Dylan, Dustin, Dillan, Cole and MacKenzie; six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Roberta Snyder, of Dover, Pa.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Donald; and two brothers, Conard and Willard (Lynn) Hutson.
