Homemakers meet Thursday

WILTON — The Wilton Day Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at St. Luke’s Church on High Street for election of officers and program.

Bring ideas for program, money for dues and your own lunch. There will be coffee, tea, hot chocolate and dessert.

SRRA compost sale slated

FARMINGTON — Sandy River Recycling Association’s compost sale will take place from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14 and 15, at the lower compost pad at SRRA facility, off Route 2/27 east of town on the Dump Road.

Get an early start on next year’s garden. Bring a pickup truck or a five-gallon bucket.

The locally-brewed compost is unscreened, so expect a few stones and a plastic spoon or two, but still the same high quality. Organic material comes from food from UMF and Mallet School cafeterias, manure from the fairgrounds and leaves from Farmington Public Works.

Free monthly luncheon

FARMINGTON — A free monthly community luncheon will be served from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Old South First Congregational Church, 227 Main St.

The meal includes spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad, garlic bread and bars or brownies for dessert.

Genealogical Society meeting

FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Farmington Public Library.

Betsy Graves will talk about the early Temple Schools. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.

Joint reunion of Jay H.S. classes

JAY — Jay High School Classes 1962-1966 will hold a joint reunion from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Spruce Mountain Middle School cafeteria.

SAD 52 course on current GED

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will offer a five-week day or evening course designed to provide the skills necessary to pass the current GED exam.

The classes are free. Session A begins the week of Sept. 16 and Session B starts the week of Oct. 21.

A GED open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Adult Learning Center, 486 Turner Center Road, Turner Center.

Carthage Historical Society to meet

CARTHAGE — On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Carthage Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at the museum.
