NORWAY — Robert G. Cotton, 83, of Oxford, died Friday, Sept. 6, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Thomaston on May 17, 1930, the son of Ralph G. and Lillian M. Schwenke Cotton. He graduated from South Portland High School, Class of 1949. He then went to serve his country in the Army and National Guard, where he became a mechanic. Robert married Everlyn Mae Wheeler on Aug. 17, 1952.
He was a member of the Oxford Lodge AF & AM No. 18, Oxford Council No. 14, Oxford Royal Arch Chapter No. 29, Scottish Rite, Thompson Lake Environmental Association, Poland Gun Club, Rock of Dunn Dee Snowmobile Club, Anderson-Staples American Legion Post 112, Oxford Rescue, Lake Thompson Fish & Game and Sky Streakers.
He is survived by a son, Mark Cotton and his wife, Jackie Estes; daughter, Marie Hamper; sister, Betty Stone and husband, Roy; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Everlyn Cotton; and sister, Jeannie Pippin.
