1925 – 2013

AUBURN — Margaret F. Brissette, 87, of Mechanic Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Hospice House.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on Aug. 31, 1925, the daughter of Carl and Florence Keene Fifield. Margaret graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in the Class of 1944. She worked in area shoe shops, retiring from Marcal Paper Mill when it closed.

She loved the Red Sox, dancing and crossword puzzles, as well as spending time with her special grandson, Todd. Eating breakfast and lunch at Kathy’s with her sister, Geneva, was also something she looked forward to.

Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Coleman of Mechanic Falls and Jo-Ann Hutchinson and her husband, Jim, of Mechanic Falls; a son, Barry Hackett of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Whittemore and her husband, Danny, of South Paris; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Katie Sturtevant and her husband, Jeff, and their two sons, Kody and Tyler, and daughter, Ashton of Mechanic Falls, Todd Hutchinson of Mechanic Falls, Dan Coleman and his wife, Denise, of Auburn, Andy Coleman and his wife, Robyn, and their son, Noah of Mechanic Falls, Rob Hackett and his wife, Trina, and their son, Quinn of Minot, Steve Hackett and his wife, Elyssa, and their sons, Gavin and Callan of Mechanic Falls, Lana Herring and her husband, Rico, and their daughter, Gracie, and son, Jacquae of Lewiston, and Bruce Whittemore and Kelly Whittemore, both of South Paris; a sister, Geneva Hackett of Mechanic Falls; and a brother, Ivan Fifield and his wife, Pearl, of Mechanic Falls.

Margaret was predeceased by a brother, Merle Ellingwood; two sisters, Abbie MacKendrick and Ruth Bean; and a son-in-law, Gerald Coleman.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Clover Manor Nursing Home and Androscoggin Hospice House for the excellent care given to our mother.
