BETHEL — The SAD 44 board settled three-year contracts with two bargaining units in the Telstar Education Association during a meeting Monday.

Superintendent David Murphy said the contract, which expired Aug. 31, provides a 1.5 percent salary increase for each of the three years for the district’s approximately 80 teachers.

The 18 members of the educational technician/secretaries bargaining unit received raises of 37 cents per hour during the first year of the contract, 39 cents per hour during school year 2014-15 and 40 cents per hour for school year 2015-16.

Individual one-year contracts were settled as follows: Telstar Regional High School Principal Dan Hart, 1 percent for 2013-14; and Transportation and Maintenance Supervisor Ron Deegan, Telstar High School Dean of Students Charlie Raymond, Telstar Middle School Principal Clark Rafford, Adult and Community Education Director Jean Waite, Technology Coordinator Peter Kuzyk, and Telstar Athletic Director Gail Wight, 2 percent.

When the school year opened at the end of August, the district had 800 students enrolled, down from 812 at the end of the last school year.

In other matters, Murphy said the board will meet in a special session at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30 to possibly act on an agreement with the Andover Withdrawal Committee. He said about 90 percent of the document has been agreed to by the district and the withdrawal committee. Remaining are issues that include busing.
