BELFAST — Police are investigating a bomb threat that closed a section of Main Street on Saturday afternoon.

Police reported that someone called in the threat to a business after 2 p.m. Saturday. Police and members of the Fire Department used yellow police tape to close off a section of the north side of Main Street. An officer and fire officials were inside The Green Store.

Several businesses were evacuated during the search. A Maine State Police bomb-sniffing dog was brought in to assist in the search.

No bomb was found and the section of the downtown was reopened after about an hour.
