Danville Grange to meet Thursday

AUBURN — Danville Junction Grange 65 will meet on Thursday, Sept. 26, for a 6 p.m. supper followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.

Installation of Officers will be conducted by Maine State Grange Master Victoria Huff and her installing team. All members and guests are welcome.

Senior Citizens Cribbage League

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Sept. 12 were: first, Sandy Oliver and Dennis Gosselin; second, Claudette Grandmaison and Hope Hughes; third, Pauline Quimby and Ike LeCompte; fourth, Ed Madden and Steve Agurkis; fifth, Lorraine Fillion and Jeannine Labbe.

Next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

Bean supper at Auburn church

AUBURN — A bean supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

The menu consists of baked beans, casseroles, hot dogs, coleslaw, breads, beverage and pies. The cost is $7 and the supper is open to the public.

Breast care and cancer detection

LEWISTON — According to the American Cancer Society, about 296,980 women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Leading a healthy lifestyle and having regular cancer screenings are steps to prevent or survive the disease.

A presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.

Clinicians from the Breast Health Program and the Radiology Department at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center will discuss the different modalities to detect breast cancer (mammography, MRI and ultrasound).

Dr. James Place, Radiology Medical Director, Cindy Brousseau, RTR (CV), Director of Imaging Services, and Dotty Guild, RN, Breast Health Program Coordinator and Patient Navigator, will share their expertise and answer questions.

Thomas College reps to visit

TURNER/POLAND — A representative from Thomas College will visit Poland Regional High School at 11:15 a.m. and Leavitt Area High School in Turner at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

The representative will meet with students to discuss Thomas’ academic and sports programs, and its residential life opportunities.

Dinner benefits vets monument

NEW GLOUCESTER — The Lunn-Hunnewell AMVETS Post No. 6 Auxiliary, on Route 100/Lewiston Road, will sponsor a turkey dinner with all the trimmings beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

The dinner is in support of the New Gloucester Veterans Monument being built next year. Adults, $9; 6-12 years old, $6; 5 years and under, free.

Openings on bus trip to Branson

RUMFORD — A fall bus trip to Branson Show Extravaganza is being offered. This is an 11-day, 10-night tour trip. The bus will leave from the Rumford Senior Center and Fireside Inn in Auburn on Nov. 15 and will return on Nov. 25.

The cost is $905 pp/do. Featured shows are Cassandre: Voice of an Angel Show, George Dyer Show, Buck Trent Show, The Haygoods Show, The Dutton Family Show, The Great American Christmas Show featuring Tony Orlando, and Showboat Branson Belle.
