LIVERMORE FALLS — Eileen Miazga, director of RSU 73 Spruce Mountain Adult and Community Education, has announced the fall classes. Two new certificate programs will be offered.
Retail Sales Certificate will prepare participants specifically for entry-level retail sales positions. The course concentrates on effective customer sales and service. Upon successful completion of this course and national exam, students will be mailed a certificate from the National Retail Federation. Begins Oct. 7 for 15 weeks with a cost of $75.
Office Assistant Skills Certificate: Have you been thinking about learning or polishing your office skills to improve your chances of getting a job? This standards based program gives you an opportunity to receive certification in office skills. This program will provide essential skills for an entry level position in a variety of office setting. Standards are Work Ready, Keyboarding, Office Communications, Computer Literacy, Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Research. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Oct. 9 for 15 weeks with a cost of $75.
Do It Yourself Classes include the following.
Masonry: An introduction to the basics of brick work – whether you want to build a wall, create a patio or add excitement to your home with a flagstone entrance, join us to learn the basics of working with bricks and stone. Classes run Tuesdays from Oct. 1 to Nov. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a cost of $75.
Construction Basics 101: Learn from a pro! Learn to use the basic tools needed for building. This class emphasizes shop safety, teaches how to take accurate measurements and introduces the standard woodworking tools. Classes are scheduled Oct. 2 through Nov. 13, with a cost of $60.
Construction Basics 201: Got the essentials down? Pick a project and work on it in our wood shop under the direction of our experienced instructor. Bring your own wood. Oct. 2 to Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m. $60.
Basic Blueprints: This two-week class covers basic blueprint reading for homeowners and everyone else who is interested. If you would like to know what all those little symbols mean, this class is for you. Oct. 10 and 17, 6-8 p.m. $15.
Enrichment classes include Introduction to Ballet, Beginner Tap for Adult, Basic Computer Maintenance and Security, Making The Perfect Omelette, Craft Show Start-Up!, Art Journaling: Exploring Mixed Media, and Beginning Knitting.
