LEWISTON — On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Lewiston Elks Lodge No. 371 will hold its annual soccer shoot for children under the age of 14 at Edward Little High School. Registration for the event will take place on the school field at 8 a.m., followed by the soccer shoot at 9.
Youngsters will be broken into age groups including under-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Boys will compete separately from the girls.
Younger competitors will compete in a five-goal contest, with progressively smaller goals which earn more points as they progress. The older competitors will compete by shooting at a full-size soccer goal, divided into sections, with varying points for each section. Shooters with the highest score will win, and earn the right to advance to the district contest to be held in Augusta. The event is free.
