SOUTH CARTHAGE — New England Celtic Arts in collaboration with Crossroads International Celtic Festival will present folk legends Jez Lowe and

at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Skye Theatre. A community jam session will start at 6 p.m.

Lowe and Keelaghan are touring separately in the region and will join forces for one show at Skye Theatre. The idea was hatched between agent Robyn Boyd of Wooden Ship Productions and Skye Theatre Director Phill McIntyre.

“This is a rare opportunity to have two veteran songwriters collaborating and supporting each other on stage. A dream come true for rural Maine,” said Mcintyre

Lowe has built an enviable reputation as a songwriter and performer in the world of acoustic music, and as a recognized musical ambassador for his native North East England, with more than a dozen albums and countless live performances around the world over the last 20 years.

Called Canada’s finest singer-songwriter by one of the most respected music journalists of the last 50 years, Keelaghan is an artist who has proven to be a man for all seasons. As the calendar pages have turned, for almost a quarter of a century now, this poet laureate of the folk and roots music world has gone about his work with a combination of passion, curiosity intent and intensity. His masterful storytelling has, over the course of nine recordings, been part of the bedrock of his success, earning Keelaghan nominations and awards.

Possessed of an insatiable appetite for finding the next unique story line, Keelaghan forges his pieces with brilliant craftsmanship and monogrammed artistic vision, making him one of the most distinctive and readily identifiable voices on both the Canadian and international singer-songwriter scenes.
