WARREN — A local husband and wife have been charged in connection with alleged prostitution activity following an undercover police sting.
Wendy Moody, 37, was arrested and charged Thursday with engaging in prostitution, possessing a useable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, cultivating marijuana and violating a condition of release, according to Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.
Her husband, Curtis Moody, 44, also was arrested and charged Thursday with conspiracy relating to his wife’s alleged prostitution, as it is believed he was aware of, cooperated in and supported her activities, the chief deputy said.
The investigation is ongoing and may result in others being charged.
The Moodys’ residence was searched Thursday after she was arrested at a local motel.
Deputy Michael Sprague had received information that Moody was allegedly offering sex for money through the Internet. Deputies from the patrol division and criminal investigations division set up an operation where Moody approached one of the undercover deputies and offered to have sex with him in exchange for money, the chief deputy said.
Evidence, mostly electronic communication devices, were seized to corroborate related activity, Carroll said.
