WINTHROP —  Jess Ames nailed a tight shot off a penalty corner Friday to give Winthrop a narrow 2-1 mid-season win over Telstar in MVC field hockey action.

Ames also scored the powerhouse Ramblers’ (8-1) first goal in the first frame. Annie Cushman scored the lone goal for Telstar (4-5).

Alyssa Arsenault made nine saves for Winthrop, while Hali Barter turned aside five shots for Telstar.

Lisbon 2, Mountain Valley 0

RUMFORD —  After a scoreless first half, Lisbon’s offense found a forward gear Friday and revved up to secure a 2-0 victory over Mountain Valley.

Arianna Kahler and Olivia Harrington each scored for the Greyhounds (7-1-1), while Hannah Jordan was credited with an assist.

Stevie Charest needed only two saves to preserve the shutout. Kassie Thibodeau turned back 11 shots for the Falcons (2-7).

St. Dom’s 2, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY —  Senior forward Callie Greco scored the game-winning goal at the 6:37 mark of the second half as St. Dom’s narrowly secured a victory over Boothbay in MVC field hockey action Friday afternoon.

Brooke Alley put the Seahawks (0-9) on the board first with the opening goal.

Brittany Eastman tied the contest in the first half for the Saints (2-7), and had an assist on Greco’s game-winner.

Goalie Erica Gomes made 12 saves for Boothbay, while goalie Taylor Bergeron prevented three to earn the win in net for St. Dom’s.

Oak Hill 2, Hall-Dale 2 (2OT)

FARMINGDALE — Junior forward Hayley Marshall scored the equalizer for the Raiders (5-3-1) with five minutes remaining in regulation as Oak Hill and Hall-Dale played to a 2-2 double overtime stalemate in MVC field hockey Friday afternoon.

Shanay Gilbert collected both of the Bulldogs’ (3-5-1) goals.

Goalie Molly French made 19 saves for Hall-Dale, while goalie Abby Fuller only needed to fend off three for Oak Hill.

Boys’ Soccer

Waynflete 2, Poland 0

POLAND — Waynflete scored a goal in each half Friday and posted a 2-0 victory over Poland in a mid-season WMC boys’ soccer tilt.

Harry Baker-Connick gave the Flyers (5-1) a 1-0 advantage in the first frame, while Serge Nyirikamba added an insurance goal with 10:15 left in regulation.

Milo Belleau needed only three saves to notch the shutout, while Zack Lowe turned aside six shots between the posts for Poland (0-7-1).

Girls’ Soccer

Poland 2, Waynflete 1

PORTLAND — After taking a two-goal advantage in the first half, Poland hung on to post a 2-1 victory over Waynflete in WMC girl’s soccer action Friday.

The Knights (4-2-0) received both goals from veteran Sarah Bolduc, with one assist from sister Emily Bolduc. Ella Millard was credited with Waynflete’s (3-1-1) lone goal.

Erin Brewer made 12 saves for Poland, while Julianna Harwood turned back 10 shots for Waynflete.

St. Dom’s 2, Hall-Dale 2 (2OT)

FARMINGDALE — All scoring was completed during the first half, as St. Dom’s and Hall-Dale scrambled to a 2-2 deadlock in a KVAC  girl’s soccer tilt Friday.

KK Linck and Faith Grady tallied for the Saints (6-1-1), while Maura Stottler netted both goals for the Bulldogs (5-1-1).

Kelly Pomerleau made 11 saves for St. Dom’s, while Olivia Maynard deflected six shots between the posts for Hall-Dale.

Dirigo 5, Telstar 1

BETHEL — Sabrina Daoud registered a hat trick Friday to propel Dirigo to a 5-1 rout over Telstar in more MVC girls’ soccer action.

Summer Keim chipped in with a pair of goals for the Cougars (3-4) to complete the scoring. Jillian DeLallo scored the lone goal for Telstar (0-6-2).

Mariah LaFleur made four saves for Dirigo, while Tehya Johnson (4 saves) and Mallory Corriveau (3) split time in net for the Rebels.

Brunswick 5, Skowhegan 1

SKOWHEGAN — Lena Martin netted a pair of goals Friday to lead Brunswick to a 5-1 win over Skowhegan in more local girls’ soccer action.

Julia Champagne, Madeline Cowan and Carley Nicholson also tallied for the Dragons (4-3-0) to complete the scoring. Alyssa Cobb scored the lone goal for struggling Skowhegan (0-7-0). 

Haley Murano made three saves for Brunswick, while Andrea Quirion (four saves) and Shawna Quimby (4) split time in net for Skowhegan.

Spruce Mountain 3, Lisbon 0

JAY — Mikayla Holt led a trio of players to register goals as Spruce Mountain hustled to a 3-0 victory over Lisbon in MVC girls’ soccer action.

Alexa Perkins and Hayley Doyon also tallied for the Phoenix (5-2-0) to complete the scoring. Veteran keeper Emily Keene made 10 saves to preserve the shutout.

Mt. Blue 2, Hampden 2 (2OT)

HAMPDEN — Miranda Nicely evened up the contest at 2-2 with 5:45 remaining in regulation as Mt. Blue and Hampden Academy battled to a 2-2 double overtime tie in KVAC girls’ soccer action Friday afternoon.

Lauren Guppy scored the first Cougar (3-3-1) goal in the first half. Mt. Blue trailed 2-1 at the midpoint.

The Broncos (3-1-2) dominated on offense, but couldn’t translate their prowess into goals.
