WILTON — Taxpayers can expect a 95-cent increase in the tax rate when bills are sent Thursday.

On Tuesday, selectmen approved the rate of $16.25 per $1,000 in property valuation for the 2013-2014 taxes. The rate last year was $15.30, Town Clerk Diane Dunham said Wednesday.

The county and municipal appropriations stayed the same but a higher RSU 9 school appropriation for the town, more than $250,000, necessitated the tax rate going up, Town Manager Rhonda Irish told the board.

Taxes are due Nov. 8, Dunham said.
