Oscar H. Cloutier, 79, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly from the Southern Maine area, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, Oct. 1, after a brief illness.

He received his Bachelors degree in business from the University of New Hampshire and completed his MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Oscar spent many years teaching night business courses for the University of New Hampshire. He had an extremely successful career in manufacturing, which eventually led him to becoming Vice President of operations of a major shoe component business. During his career he was a consultant to Harold Alfond of Dexter Shoe. The last phase of his career was as President of L&M Manufacturing of Lewiston Maine.

Oscar’s passion for clowning made many children happy. As a member of the Kora Shriners of Lewiston Maine his Clown “Clyde” became the #1 Shriner Tramp Clown in North America. He maintained his Associate membership when he moved to Florida and became a Sahib Noble. In 1999 he was the President of International Shrine Clown Association. In 2009 he was Potentate of Sahib Shriners of Sarasota Florida. Later he was appointed to the Board of Governors of Tampa Shrine Hospital for Children.

He had several hobbies that he held a very strong passion for. He was a private and commercial pilot and owned his own plane. He was one of the best football officials in Maine High School football, and is still talked about today. Skiing was a love so he became a ski instructor and played for several fast pitch softball teams. He loved his boats and water skiing, and could catch fish like no one else, land lock salmon was his favorite. His latest passion was his love for the game of golf.

His greatest accomplishment and passion in life was his love for family. Oscar is survived by Peggy, the love of his life for 58 years. His son Michael and his wife Chi Chi of Casco, ME., daughter Roxanne Mayhew of Hiram Maine. He had five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his oldest grandson Michael Oscar, survived by Benjamin, Matthew, Melanie, Melissa and Lily.

Services will be 10 am Saturday, October 5th at Church of the Incarnation, followed by a reception at the Sahib Shrine center. Donations in his name can be made to the Tampa Shriners Hospital for Children at 12502USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL. 33612-9411.
